We did our usual 'arrive and pitch tent in the dark' scenario at 'The Basin' campground, and although the campsite was quite nice, the leeches weren't. We moved on the following day (via Cessnock) to find a different place.We ended up at Hunter Lookout which looked over Cessnock and was really nice. We had a goanna that kept coming to see us.
